DESCRIPTION:
December 11, 1781, David Brewster was born in Scotland. In 1815 he invented the Kaleidoscope to allow him to study optics. The colorful pattern-changing instrument became an instant success throughout Europe and the United States. Its name means "Beauty-Form-Watcher" in Greek.
