DESCRIPTION:
Celebrated in China as a national holiday since 1949, National Youth Day commemorates the May 4, 1919 demonstrations by students in China that kicked off the revolution that eventually led to its shedding of colonial rule and adoption of communism.
Youth Day is part of the seven day holiday period in China known as the Golden Week.
