Besides the fact it is extra delicious and not as unhealthy as a 'typical' cake because it contains fruit inside, as the name suggests, fruitcakes have been around for a very, very long time.
In some ancient cultures it was a custom to burry one's loved ones with fruitcake, but to best celebrate this event you should most definitely treat yourself with some delicious fruitcake!
