DESCRIPTION:
On May 8, 1945, the German Army throughout Europe laid down its arms and officially ended WWII in Europe. It would be another four months before Japan would do the same in the Pacific. Russia observed this on May 9, when Stalin publicly announced over the radio that the war was over.
