Each October, the March of Dimes of Canada & Polio Australia sponsor Polio Awareness Month.
Many Canadians believe that polio is merely a part of Canadian history – a forgotten disease. But polio is a genuine part of their lives for the thousands of Canadians living with the disease's late effects in the form of post-polio syndrome.
There are approximately 31,000 Canadian polio survivors. Our Post-Polio Canada® program helps educate and support polio survivors, their loved ones, caregivers, and healthcare professionals nationwide.
