DESCRIPTION:
Created in 1989 by the United Nations, the International Day for Disaster Reduction promotes a global risk awareness and disaster reduction culture. It is a celebration of people and communities working toward reducing their exposure to disasters and an awareness campaign focused on the risks they face from fire, flood, earthquakes, extreme weather, volcanos, and other natural occurrences.
