On August 9, 1974, President Richard Nixon became the first president to resign from office in US history. That same day, his ‘veep’ Vice President Gerald Ford assumed the presidency and became the 38th president of the United States and led the country from August 9, 1974 – January 20, 1977.
Robert Birch of Pun Corps created this event. Mr. Birch died in 2005.
