Evergreen Day pays tribute to the iconic Christmas Tree, which is usually a conifer in the genus Pinus (pine tree).
Evergreen is a lay term used to describe trees and shrubs that do not lose their leaves in the fall and stay green year around. These include conifers (Hemlock, Redwood), tropical hardwoods (Mahogany, Eucalyptus), and temperate broadleaf trees (Holly, Rhododendron).
