The Schwenkfelders are a Christian offshoot of Lutheranism, which originated with Casper Schwenckfeld (1489-1561) of Silesia (Southern Germany). His followers would eventually settle in the Perkiomen Valley of southeastern Pennsylvania.

The most significant wave came on September 22, 1734, and they celebrated their first Day of Remembrance on September 24, 1734.
