Teressa Bellissimo, co-owner of the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, is credited with inventing the Buffalo wing. According to the legend, Bellissimo concocted the dish as a late-night snack for her son and his friends. She deep-fried leftover chicken wings, which until then were used for stock or soup. Once fried, she tossed them in a homemade spicy sauce.
