One of the largest events in Illinois, The Burgoo Festival honors the burgoo, a kind of stew made of carrots, potatoes, beef, celery, cabbage, onions and peppers, cooked in an outdoor fire for 12-18 hours. This is an event that involves the entire community. Sponsored by the LaSalle County Historical Museums, Burgoo Festival also includes festival favorites such as homemade pies, antique markets and concerts.
