DESCRIPTION:
World Rabies Day raises awareness of rabies and its prevention.
The event occurs on the anniversary of the death of Louis Pasteur (December 27, 1822 - September 28, 1895), the developer of the first rabies vaccine.
Sponsored by the Center of Disease Control (CDC) and Alliance for Rabies Control (ARC) in 2007 and endorsed by many international human and veterinary institutions worldwide.
World Rabies Day encourages pet owners and outdoor enthusiasts to learn how to prevent rabies infections. Vaccinations are a critical component of disease prevention. Rabies vaccines are not one and done. They require boosters every three years in cats and dogs.
