The week of October 10 is National Metric Week. The United States is one of only three countries worldwide that does not use the metric system as its official measurement unit; the other two are Myanmar and Liberia.
The metric system uses units of measure divisible by ten. These include millimeters, centimeters, kilometers, meters, liters, Celsius, and kilograms. The US uses inches, feet, yards, miles, gallons, Fahrenheit, and pounds.
National Metrics Week is an opportunity for American citizens to learn the metric system, thus preparing them for a global economy.
