DESCRIPTION:

In the Middle East, North Africa (MENA) and most Muslim majority countries, Mother's Day is celebrated on the first day of spring each year. The original declaration of this day occurred in Egypt through suggestion of journalist Mustafa Amin in 1956. Over the next several decades, many of the countries within MENA also chose to adopt this date.

As elsewhere in the world during different dates designated as Mother's Day, this is a day when mother's are celebrated with gifts, day outings and other family activities.
