Single Parent Appreciation Day encourages people to think about the challenges of being a single parent and to recognize and applaud the amazing and selfless work that many such parents do every day.
Celebrated since 1984 when Janice Moglen wrote an article about her experience as a divorced single mother of two, this day is intended to be on the level of Mother's Day and Father's Day. This marks the anniversary of the creation of Parents without Partners on March 21, 1957.
