Tweed Day remembers senator William 'Boss' Tweed leader of the 'Tweed Ring,' a corrupt political cabal that stole US$30-200 million in New York on April 3, 1823.
Tweed Day is a reminder that nobody is above suspicion and that even those trusted to run our country sometimes abuse their position for personal gain.
Rather than remember history, some people will use Tweed Day to celebrate the Scottish fabric used in suits, jackets, and trousers around the globe.
