In 1917 the nation of Trinidad and Tobago passed a law prohibiting the activities of the Shouter Baptist Faith. On March 30, 1951 this law preventing religious freedom was repealed. Shouter Liberation Day marks that event and is a public holiday in Trinidad and Tobago each year.
