About the State of the Union Address in the United States

DESCRIPTION:
According to the Article II, Section 3 of the United States Constitution, State of the Union Messages are mandated and delivered by the President to congress and the nation.
"He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient;"
Most years see a State of the Union Address. The first was delivered by President George Washington January 8, 1790.
