About the World Day for the Abolition of Slavery

DESCRIPTION:
World Day of Slavery Abolition marks the anniversary of the December 2, 1807, act prohibiting the importation of slaves becoming federal law in the United States. It abolished the international slave trade in the United States but did not end the practice.
Currently, the United Nations seeks to resolve the issue of slavery with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as its roadmap for stamping out the root causes of slavery and freeing all enslaved people in the world.
