DESCRIPTION:
Each year on February 8 in Japan, women, and girls gather their needles and head to the temple for a blessing. Married women offer prayers to bless their work, and unmarried girls pray to the goddess Awashima Myozin for a perfect loving marriage and husband. Hari-Kuyo, the event's name, translates to "The Festival of Broken Needles."
