Initiated in the United Kingdom, Scleroderma Awareness Month seeks to unite organizations worldwide to increase awareness of this rare autoimmune condition.
Scleroderma is a rare, chronic disease of the immune system, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Two and a half million people worldwide have scleroderma, with over 12,000 in the United Kingdom.
It is an autoimmune condition, meaning the immune system becomes overactive and attacks healthy tissue.
