The American Association of Neurosurgeons (Canada, United States, and Mexico) publishes true stories of triumph and life changes, educational materials for students interested in pursuing a career in neurosurgery, and tips on staying healthy and avoiding becoming a victim of brain injury or disease. Overall it is a month to be inspired, astounded and humbled by the power and potential we each carry in our brains.

Pirating remains a severe problem in several parts of the world, most notably off the horn of Africa, the Gulf of Aden, and off the coast of India. The World Shipping Council notes: "The issue of piracy against merchant's vessels poses a significant threat to world shipping. In 2011, 439 pirate attacks and 45 merchant vessels were hijacked worldwide. Two hundred thirty-seven of these attacks and 28 hijackings occurred in the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Somalia, and in the wider Indian ocean. As of spring 2012, there have been more than 51 attacks off Somalia (121 worldwide), 11 hijackings off Somalia (13 worldwide), and over 158 hostages taken off Somalia. Velociraptor Attack Prevention Month is the creation of a web development company Velociraptor Aerospace Dynamics. The organization seeks to have a little fun and raise awareness of its products and services. Of course, Velociraptors no longer exist, and they’ve been extinct for tens of millions of years. However, everyone must consider the implications of velociraptors: young and old, men, women, and transgendered persons. The American Society for Velociraptor Attack Prevention is a bi-partisan group of professionals dedicated to the diffusion of knowledge concerning velociraptor attack prevention. The velociraptor is a bipedal carnivore with a long, stiffened tail and is distinguished from other dromaeosaurids by its long and low skull and upturned snout. It bores a relatively large, sickle-shaped claw, typical of dromaeosaurid and troodontid dinosaurs. This enlarged claw, up to 67 millimeters (2.6 in) long around its outer edge, is a predatory device used to tear into the prey, delivering a fatal blow.
