TED was created in 1984 by Richard Saul Wurman when he noticed a synergy between technology, entertainment, and design. The first TED included a demo of the compact disc, the ebook, and cutting-edge 3D graphics from Lucasfilm. Remember, this was 1984—the World Wide Web would not be created until 1991, and smartphones would not exist until 2007! Also presenting was mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot who demonstrated how to map coastlines using his developing theory of fractal geometry. TED lost money that first year, and it would take another six before Wurman would give it another shot by partnering with Harry Marks. The second time around, he struck gold, and the TED conference quickly became one of the most anticipated annual events in intellectual and creative circles in the seaside town of Monterey, California. Over the years, it expanded its coverage areas, bringing in the brightest minds from multiple industries and areas of expertise. By 2000, TED grew and went not-for-profit. In addition to the original TED Conference, the non-profit has added the following events services: • TEDGlobal, held in locations around the world • TED Prize, which grants its winners one wish to change the world • TED Talks, an audio and video podcast series Attendance at a TED conference is by application. Each Ekadashi has a different name and significance, though this observance can fall into two categories: annual and monthly. All Ekadashi honor Lord Vishnu. Varuthini Ekadashi is the Ekadashi of the waning moon (Krishan Paksha)fortnight of the Hindu month of Chaitra. 2025 is a World Expo year, with Japan hosting the latest. The World Expo, also known as the World's Fair, is a large international exhibition designed to showcase the achievements of nations. These exhibitions vary in character and are held in different parts of the world at a specific site for a time, usually from three to six months. The tradition of World Expos began with the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London, housed in the Crystal Palace. This event was the brainchild of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's consort, and was the first international exhibition of manufactured products to promote exchanging ideas and innovations across nations. Prince Albert's idea has since evolved into a platform for cultural dialogue and a showcase for state-of-the-art technology and architecture. Over the years, World Expos have been responsible for introducing several landmark architectural structures. Notable examples include: The Eiffel Tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World Fair in Paris. The Ferris wheel was introduced by the Columbian Exposition in 1893 for Chicago's hosting. The iconic Space Needle and Alweg monorail were built for Seattle's hosting in 1962. World Fairs promote technological achievements, often debuting life-changing inventions, including the telephone (1876, Philadelphia), the X-ray machine (1901, Buffalo), and simple ideas like the ice cream cone (1904, Saint Louis)! World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, will be the nation's second hosting; its first ran in 1970. The theme for the 2025 Expo is "Designing Future Society for Our Lives," focusing on the challenges facing modern society, including sustainability, health, and the digital revolution. Osaka's theme reflects a shift in the focus of World Expos from industrial and technological achievements to broader social and global issues.

Yom HaShoah is Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day and a state holiday.
