Confucius Day marks the birth of Confucius on September 28, 551 BC. Confucius was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher who lived during the Spring and Autumn eras in Chinese history until 479 BC. His philosophy emphasized personal and political morality, correctness, justice, and sincerity, known as Confucianism. He amassed an impressive number of followers when alive and to this day. He is credited as an author and editor of many classic Chinese texts, including the Five Classics.

Grape (and Wine) Jamboree, Geneva, (US-OH): September 28-29

The local grapes, especially the concords, are featured at the annual Geneva Grape JAMboree held the final weekend of September. The Jamboree is a celebration of the grape harvest. Visitors may taste grapes, freshly squeezed grape juice, grape pies, wine, and other grape products. All grandstand entertainment, including the "grape stomping," is free. There are two giant parades: Saturday, 1:30 pm, and Sunday, 2:00 pm. The art show, craft show, wine tasting, car show, and exciting exhibits make the JAMboree a fun, JAM-packed weekend for the entire family. In the Hindu religion, Ekadashi is observed yearly and monthly. Indira Ekadashi is the Ekadashi of the Krishna paksha in the Hindu month of Ashwin. Pet Walk, World's Largest: September 28 (est)

Initiated in 2018, The World's Largest Pet Walk is an annual fundraiser in which you pledge to take the pet of your choice out for a walk and have people sponsor you. Your pet can be a goldfish in a bowl, a horse, a dog, or even a pet rock if something breathing isn't available. All that is important is you get out and get moving. Funds raised support Pet Partners' Therapy Animal Program, which works with various patients, from those with Alzheimer's, PTSD, and addiction, to end-of-life care and those with disabilities.
