Nude Recreation Week: July 5-13 (est)

Lee Baxandall, a naturist and strong advocate for nude beaches beginning in the 1970s founded The Naturist Society (TNS). August 7, 1976, and inaugurated National Nude Beach Day. In 1992, TNS oversaw the expansion of the weekend event into the seven-day Nude Recreation Week. The event has occurred every year, with various organizations holding several occasions, from trying to break the Skinny Dipping Record to nude days at multiple parks, clubs, and beaches. National Pet Remembrance Day in the United Kingdom is a day set aside for pet parents to celebrate the lives of their deceased and missing pets while taking time to honor all they contributed to family and quality of life. This event also raises funds for UK charity, The Oldies Club re-homes dogs over seven with forever families. Event champion Pets Magazine provides the following advice for observing this day: On Pet Remembrance Day, there are many ways in which people can remember deceased pets, including: • A memorial service in a place where the pet liked to walk or play. • A living memorial by planting a tree or flowerbed. • A pet sculpture or portrait featuring the pet or their image printed on a coaster or other accessory. • A scrapbook with photos and other reminders of the pet. • An online memorial with photos of the pet. • A poem about the pet. • Donating to charities like The Oldies Club or volunteering at an animal rescue center. National Pet Remembrance Day began in 2015.

Tour de France (FR): July 5-27

The Tour de France is an annual cycling event done in stages held in France. Tour de France is the oldest of the three most prestigious global cycling events. Although the routes may vary, the format remains the same. Cyclists pass through the Pyrenees and the Alps, finishing on the Champs-Elysees. The race lasts for 21 days and covers 3,500 kilometers. Organized in 1903 as a promotion for L'Auto, a magazine, the Amaury Sport Organization currently champions the event. There are only two times when the race was not held, during the two World Wars. Winners are determined through the compounded times of their teams (nine riders). The winner is the person with the lowest aggregate time, and that rider gets to wear the yellow jersey. Considered a UCI (Union Cycliste International) World Tour event, participants are members of the UCI World Teams unless invited by a sponsor.

In Hinduism, Ekadashi is an important observance, with two occurring annually. The focus is the worship of Lord Vishnu. Devotees show reverence by partial fasting. They abstain from grains, beans, cereals, certain vegetables like onions, and specific spices. Devshayani Ekadeshi (Shayani Ekadashi / Maha-ekadashi / Prathama-ekadashi / Padma Ekadashi) is the Ekadashi of the Shukla Paksha within the Hindu month of Ashadha.
